Online Services

Get access to our archive collections, wherever you are

Whilst we’re always happy to welcome customers to The Hive, we appreciate that the research community is worldwide and not everyone can travel to Worcestershire. If you’re unable to visit us, we offer several services to bring our archival resources to you.

We’re happy to advise on our holdings and services free of charge, and we offer a paid research service undertaken by our expert staff. In addition, we can provide copies of commonly used resources such as wills, parish registers, electoral registers, and newspapers.  For more information, please get in touch directly or consult our list services, fees and charges.

Transcription and translation services

Our historical archives span a wide period of time and cover many handwriting styles, some of which can be very difficult to decipher. We’re skilled at accurately transcribing historical documents and setting the record into its historical context. We can also transcribe documents from Latin to English. For a quote for potential work, please list services, fees and charges and contact us.

Services for the media and use of collections

Research

We welcome enquiries from the media on the use of our collections and are happy to advise on possible archive sources for potential stories. Radio/TV journalists – along with any other media researches – are welcome to visit us at The Hive to undertake more detailed research, or we can be commissioned to carry our research on your behalf.

Use of resources

We’re always pleased to see items from our collections used in publications and by the media. In common with other archives, libraries and museums, Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service has the right to authorise the reproduction of prints, drawings, documents, maps, manuscripts, and paintings in our care, and can grant permission to reproduce these items in exchange for a charge.

Where we do not hold the copyright, permission for reproduction must be obtained from the copyright holder before the material is used.

Filming

If you would like to film at The Hive or an external location, we’d be happy to help. Filming will be supervised by staff and a fee will be charged for their time.
