‘I may be in my 50s yet Autism shall not take over my life’ – Louisa

Louisa began researching her family history at the former History Centre in Worcester, and more recently carried on her research at The Hive. As a keen cyclist and photographer, Louisa became a volunteer for Worcestershire Archive Service, taking photographs to add to the Worcestershire Photographic Survey we hold here in the archives.

Louisa’s research has recently helped in a far more personal area of her life, as with the help of family members she has made contact with her birth mother and stepbrother and now keeps in touch with them.

Louisa is an active National Autistic Society supporter, raising funds for the organisation by taking on cycling challenges the length and breadth of the UK. She is also keen to raise awareness of autism.

Recently, she has also written a book, as yet unpublished.

If you would like to find out more about Autism, the National Autistic Society has produced the video describing Autism in more detail: https://youtu.be/Lk4qs8jGN4U

With grateful thanks to Louisa for sharing her experience of life with autism.
